README

Thank you very much for your interest in LHUPATECH's WINCAB/DOSCAB skins! In the present document, you will find all useful information about the Scanlog III WLHS 160-F Wurlitzer FW 160/161 wallbox adaptor skin.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PRESENTATION OF THE PROJECT - HISTORY - WHAT IS THIS?

Custom made specialty skin in August 2007 for a french Wurlitzer FW 160* wallbox user. - This constitutes a wallbox adaptor to permit the use of a physical wallbox with the computer jukebox software WINCAB/DOSCAB. The present 2010 re-edition has got some modifications and improvements from the 2007 custom edition. In fact, some improvements have been done to the graphic interface, font and key settings for better monitoring, viewing, identification of content, interactivity and playability!

WHY A ONE PAGE 160 SELECTION ONE SHOT SELECTING PANEL DISPLAY?

The whole one page 160 selection one shot display instead several pages as seen on regular WINCAB/DOSCAB skins ensures a better viewing, monitoring and content managing of the WLHS 160-F Wurlitzer FW 160/161 wallbox adaptor.

REQUIREMENTS

This specialty skin requires specific hardware as a KCRTB (Keyboard Cross-Referral Terminal Box) or a specific control module to adapt physical switchboards to the computer's keyboard. - A "KCRTB" is a replica of a standard computer keyboard except that's built as a terminal control box with terminals linked to letters, numbers, function keys (F1-F12) etc. instead keys. - This can also require a stepper box to install the wallbox as any regular jukebox with other specific hardware or software if the user wants his wallbox authentic without any modification.

FOR EASIER INSTALLATION

The easiest way to adapt a wallbox to DW Jukebox with the WLHS 160-F wallbox adaptor, is to replace or adapt the actual wallbox switchboard and inner terminal leads in order to get x unipolar normally open pushbuttons prior to connect it to the KCRTB or control module and evenly to the computer. As possible, the mechanical buttons with electrical release system must be kept in place to save the charm of the characteristic of an authentic wallbox! LHUPATECH plans to build other wallbox adaptor skins for all models of wallboxes in the future to make possible the use of WINCAB/DOSCAB with!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THINGS THAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT - DIRECTIONS

So, you will notice that the selector switchboard has 2 sets of 16 letter buttons instead one as seen normally on the original wallbox. In this case,
it's normal and this depends of the suppression of the letters "I" and "O" in the configuration of jukebox and wallbox keyboards perhaps to avoid possible confusion with the numbers "1" and "0". In the WINCAB/DOSCAB alpha numeric selecting system, the letters "I" and "O" are in use while they're not in use on real jukebox and wallbox alpha numeric selecting systems for the reasson cited above.

This constitutes the wallbox WINCAB/DOSCAB selecting system converter. The wallbox (WALLBX) selecting buttons array between the number buttons array at left and the WINCAB/DOSCAB selecting buttons array at right, has the same letter configuration as the original wallbox with the letters "I" and "O" suppressed as J, K, L, M, N, P, Q, R while the WINCAB/DOSCAB (W/DCAB) selecting buttons array completely at right has the letters "I" and "O" in use as I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P. The value of the "I" to "P" control buttons of the WINCAB/DOSCAB alpha numeric selecting system has been converted to the value of the "J" to "R" wallbox alpha numeric selecting system with the control buttons "I" and "O" disabled in the control.ini file. Wou will also notice that these letters "I" and "O" are dead on the computer's keyboard and have absolutely no effect on the WINCAB/DOSCAB software in operation.

ALL SWITCHBOARD WIRING FROM THE WALLBOX (OR STEPPER BOX AND PULSE/NUMERIC CONVERTER) INCLUDING CREDITS MUST BE CONNECTED TO THE KCRTB OR CONTROL MODULE WITH THE "A" TO "R" SELECTOR SWITCHBOARD WIRING TO THE LETTER TERMINALS CORRESPONDING TO THE WALLBOX SELECTING SYSTEM i-e A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, P, Q, R. - DO NOT EXCEED 160 SELECTIONS WHEN ADDING OR REPLACING MUSIC IN THE WINCAB/DOSCAB'S RECORD SELECTOR MECH FOLDER. THIS MUST HAVE EXACTLY 160 SELECTIONS FOR CONFORMITY WITH THE 160 SELECTION WALLBOX.

Whatever the letter you hit on the wallbox selecting system buttons array (WALLBX) on the WLHS 160-F Wurlitzer FW 160/161 wallbox adaptor, you should see the WINCAB/DOSCAB alpha numeric selecting system on the selection display i-e A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, O, P. - So, If you want, you can use this specialty skin as current skin on your WINCAB/DOSCAB jukebox for its characteristic one page 160 selection selecting panel for viewing it one shot or getting an amazing skin effect!

Once your wallbox system completely ready to play and exempt of any selection error, write manually or print your title strips and then, install them on the wallbox selecting panel towards each corresponding selection alpha numeric code. IT'S DONE!

THINK SAFETY!

CAUTION: This project requires some additional brain and some talent in electronics, electricity, manual tooling and doityourselfing! A typical wallbox works normally on alernative current 12VAC or 24VAC but it can also run on 120VAC or 220VAC in foreign countries (European current). Take care if you work with 120 or 220VAC... this can be harmful! Always disconnect all power supply wires or cords before working in any electrical project! Several wallboxes work on DC current 12VDC or 24VDC and this needs a DC power supply rated to 12VDC, 24VDC or both. Always check out all your wiring about 5 times prior to plug it in order to avoid possible risk of fire, injury or damaging to your equipment and project. - Good luck and have a lot of pleasure!
